March 2017 is always been Sheffield Beer Week and we are now into the 3rd year and my 3rd year of visiting the venues, and for the 2nd year in a row I have taken the whole week off work.
So what is Sheffield Beer Week, well its a week long list of events in some of Sheffield finest pubs, they are either food/beer pairing, meet the brewery, tap takeovers and planned walks.
This is all organised by Jules from Hop Hideout who does a fantastic job of putting all this together every year.
You can find all the weeks events on this website.
Below is my list of events attending:
Monday – it is the start of the week long events at Brewdog and Red Deer with the Blue Bee tap takeover and had a couple of their ales, had a couple in the Brewdog as well, also x3 imperial stouts at Shakespeare. A visit to Riverside for their Blackjack vs True North ales.
The x3 imperial stouts from Shakespeare
My main focus this year is on the “week long events” which is tap takeovers and shall be visiting some on Tuesday on my Pub Walk Series No 4 which will also be visiting – Riverside, Wellington, tap takeovers and specials, also squeezed in a few more pubs as with friends from Hull for the day, I did get In the Brewdog Mad Hatters tap takeover.
Wednesday I shall be off to Hallamshire House for the Beavertown tap takeover and quite a few of the ales I have never had before, then a stroll down to New Barrack Tavern for the Acorn tap takeover and also met the brewery and a couple of Lost Industry.
Thursday will be the start of White Lion 4 day beer festival on all their ale pumps and they do have quite a few. Was also nice to meet with Edd from Hopjacker who also turned up.
Then I shall have a short stroll over to Beer Engine for Forepure vs Fierce tap takeover, then Sentinel Brewery for the Yellow Belly tap takeover and a stroll down to Rutland Arms for Lervig tap takeover.
Friday – I took the day off as Thursday night gave me a bad hangover so it was watch the whole of Seasons 5 of Falling Skies.
Saturday it is Beer Alive beer festival for the 3 rugby matches (6 nations) at Ice Sheffield
I have done 14 events over the week t plus I have walked to ALL of the events covering about 26ish miles
Also while all this is going on is my Pub Walk No 10 on Friday 10th March.
Then there are the twitter hours which I am sure I shall be popping on during my trips around the pubs.
